Fashion Inspired by Ugly Betty

I've been on a recent Ugly Betty kick. You could say I'm feeling nostalgic what with all the Lizzie McGuire and Ugly Betty I'm watching. There are so many great television shows airing right now, yet I still have to make time for my all time favorites. If you've never seen Ugly Betty (shame on you!) then you must check it out. All four seasons are on Netflix, so queue it up. You won't regret it!

I was feeling inspired by Betty's no-fear fashion motto. She always mixes prints and patterns. She's bold and daring, which is refreshing to see in the minimalist fashion world of Mode Magazine. I put together an outfit featuring pieces that are wearable, but capture the essence of Betty.

The inspiration started with the iconic red Betty glasses and even trickled down into accessories matching her "B" necklace with something a bit more on trend and classic (but seriously, who doesn't love the real necklace). The floral blouse is similar to a lot of her pieces featuring bright colors and fun prints and the skirt is floaty and printed with little swans all over it. When I saw this it just screamed Betty to me. The pink flats match the outfit quite nicely for a spring day, but Betty may have paired them with some bright socks! The finishing touch is the bright blue clutch. I think I'd be hesitant at first to try something this bold, but Betty would never be afraid of mixing prints and colors. So go for it!
