Spring Playlist 2014

Is it just me or does spring always put you in the mood to find new music? I've been using the Songza app recently to find new inspiration. Songza is like Pandora and Spotify, but way cooler! You can choose an activity or a mood or a genre and then find a playlist that fits your needs from those lists. The playlists range anywhere from "Vintage Cocktail Party" to "Cardio Hip Hop" and everywhere in between. It's nice to have another music playing app that lets me discover new music without choosing one artist or song from which they create a station like on Pandora.

I'm all about chill music so if that's what you like then these songs will be right up your alley.

Lemonade (Ukulele Version) - Jeremy Passion

This song is good for when I'm in a relaxing mood..which is all the time!

19 You + Me - Dan + Shay

As the lyrics describe summer scenes, it has me yearning for summer days at the beach. I have a feeling this will be my summer anthem. I'm not usually a country girl, but this song is fun and upbeat.

Falling in Love - Us the Duo

Not only is this song about falling in love and being with the person you can't live without, but their video was filmed in PARIS. Gah! I just can't get enough. I first heard this song a few days after I returned from Paris and felt nostalgic even after just that short time. I love the song, and the video. Us the Duo has easily become one of my favorite singer/songwriter groups. They have a great YouTube channel and you may have seen them on Vine!

Till I Fall Asleep - Jayme Dee

This is a nice slow song, kind of sad, but I still love it. I like to listen to this as a lullaby before I drift off to sleep like I'm a part of the song. (I know I'm lame haha)

Best Day of My Life - American Authors

This is definitely my top song of the moment. It's one of my Songza discoveries and it's just so upbeat and puts me in a great mood. It's motivational to workout to, as well. Keep this song ready to go when you need a boost to get up and raring to go in the morning.

Round and Round - Imagine Dragons

I hopped on the Imagine Dragons bandwagon kind of late, but better late than never, right? So many of their songs are great songs for spring and summer, but I love Round and Round and could listen to it on repeat for days.

What songs have you been loving? Any spring or summer recommendations as I build my playlist?

Outfit Inspired by Little Black Dress by Sara Bareilles

I've got my little black dress on
And if I put on my favorite song
I'm gonna dance until you're all gone

Necklace - Urban Outfitters, Earrings - Claire's, Dress - Tobi, Clutch - Anthropologie, Heels - DSW
This song is all about forgetting your problems, putting on a dress that makes you feel hot, and dancing the night away. This outfit was really fun to put together because it would be so outside of my comfort zone if I were to actually try this on. I think it's the perfect ensemble for dancing because the dress is form fitting and no matter what you'll be looking your best! As long as you "put on your favorite song" and your little black dress you can dance away boy problems and enjoy the night with your girls.

If you haven't heard this song, I definitely recommend it. It's been my anthem the past few days! On repeat for sure! Check it out!

What is your favorite song of the moment? What song should inspire my next look?

Outfit Inspired by Evergreen Love by Misty Miller

I said this, this is great
And I hope that we can make
It last like evergreen love should

I feel Evergreen Love is a perfect song to represent summer romances. It's hopeful for the future and Misty's innocent lyrics allow the listener to feel light and happy. There are no hidden meanings, nothing that the listener must think about-- just pure, happy, lasting love.
Earrings-Etsy, Bag-ASOS, Nail Polish-Ulta, Dress-Forever 21, Necklace-Brandy Melville, Shoes-TOMS
This simple love song is pure and beautiful. How perfect for a beautiful spring or summer day? Summer love is uncomplicated, hopeful, and fun, just like this outfit. The on-trend high-low dress is floaty and romantic, the TOMS shoes are comfortable and classic, and the bag adds a bit of character as a feature piece.

You can listen to Evergreen Love by Misty Miller here.

If you have a favorite song you'd like me to pull outfit inspiration from I'd love to take suggestions!

Outfit Inspired by Just One by Blind Pilot

Born in with a reason,
blown out like a ghost.
We came with our best lines,
told them like jokes.
If I could have known then
we were dying to get gone...

This beautifully simple song could have many different meanings, but I interpret "Just One" as a love song. I'm a hopeless romantic so I'll try to pull a love story out of almost anything, but I'm fairly certain that it is about a love that may not have worked out. I believe this song alludes to the fact that we only get one destiny, one true love, one life. This outfit, just like the song, is simple, beautiful, and full of details that encourage you to live your life because we only get "just one."
Bag-Forever 21, Nail Polish-Amazon, Romper-Target, Necklace-Bauble Bar, Bracelet-Brandy Melville, Shoes-DSW
I put together an outfit that is simple in nature, but highlighted with accessories that help you embrace the essence of your one life, one love, and one destiny. The bold coral accessories along with the gold accents brighten up this dark ensemble. They remind you that even in the dark there are point of light and reason. You must see past the dark and fully enjoy every moment you have. Also, thisbag is a Forever 21 dupe of the Chanel quilted bags! What a great find!

Outfit Inspired by Bandages by Hey Rosetta!

That's where we belong
We've been abed too long
All our weaknesses are growing strong
But winter always ends
With water on your lips
The April rain comes swinging in

I know song meanings are up to personal interpretation (which is what makes music such an amazing experience) so for me this song is about encouraging happiness and waking up from a dark period. Like the transition from winter to spring. So I thought, what better time to pull outfit inspiration from this song than in spring?
Bracelet - Brandy Melville, Hair clip - Forever 21, Ring - Brandy Melville, Top - Ruche, Shorts - Forever 21,             Bag - ASOS, Shoes - TOMS
I really wanted to play with some fun pops of color and trendy polka dots (if you've seen my other posts lately you will see I'm loving polka dots lately). This outfit screams spring to me because of the bright sunshine yellow top and the flower accent hair pin. It's an outfit awakening like the trees and flowers waking up from a long winter's sleep. Moving from dark sweaters and boots to bright happy tanks and shorts. This outfit is a bit more sophisticated and could easily be dressed up for a more professional occasion with a cream colored blazer or cardigan.

Outfit Inspired by The Paper Kites "Bloom"

In the morning when I wake
And the sun is coming through,
Oh, you fill my lungs with sweetness,
And you fill my head with you

Scarf, Dress, Bracelet, Hair Pins, Shoes
I've had "Bloom" by the Paper Kites playing on repeat for about a month now. The beautiful lyrics entwined with haunting harmonies create a dream like image in my mind. I found delicate pieces that seemed as if they could float through the woods and into the clouds. The steady beats building to the chorus make me think of fairies in the woods who are pulling lovers together so I wanted this look to be something effortlessly alluring, as if you were to be magically pulled through the woods to a handsome man waiting to tell you he loves you.

If you haven't heard this song yet, I highly recommend checking it out here.

P.S. Future husband, this is playing at our wedding :)
